Type I - Sulfuric Acid Anodizing: The most prevalent anodizing technique, this approach use sulfuric acid as the electrolyte to generate a thin film with a thickness ranging from 0.0001 to 0.001 inches. This coating is the most resistant to corrosion and abrasion.


It is also the least expensive of the anodizing procedures because it requires less heating and chemicals. However, when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) rays, this layer fades.


Furthermore, unlike chromic anodize, this method does not offer as many color options. However, it is an excellent choice for applications requiring hardness and abrasion resistance, such as valves and pistons, sliding components, gears, joint swivels, electrical insulation, and blast shields.


The anodizing process begins with a thorough cleaning of the component to eliminate surface dirt. Alkaline or acidic substances are commonly utilized as abrasive agents to remove these materials.
